Action Transport Theatre run two Youth Theatre groups 11- 14 years, and 15 –18 years, for local young people who want to be creative, meet new friends, learn new skills and have a great time.
Junior Youth Theatre
4:30pm – 6:30pm Every Tuesday (in term time)
Senior Youth Theatre
4:30pm – 6:30pm Every Wednesday (in term time)
Each group explores devising, creating characters, games, team work and performance skills.
The groups are led by professional Youth Theatre Directors with a wealth of experience in performance, physical theatre, script writing and music.
We aim to reflect the strengths, interests and abilities of all the young people in the groups, and to enable them to feel creatively empowered and able to develop their skills and themselves.
As an arts and ideas company, members of the Youth Theatre are encouraged to bring all their ideas to sessions on Tuesday night and share them with their group, this might be a play they want to see, an idea for a play, an idea to improve the building, or a new piece of music……
More and more, Action Transport Youth Theatres are connecting with other organisations, theatres, and theatre companies. Youth Theatre members will have the opportunity to see professional shows in the North West region, to meet other Youth Theatres in the North West region, and to take part in the annual, national Big Youth Theatre Festival in London.
Alongside the Youth Theatre we have a group of Young Writers and together these groups are the beating heart of Action Transport Theatre Company, and where possible we try to connect these groups together. One way we do this is to run a two week Summer Project in the holidays linking the groups together, creating, and performing a new play within the two weeks.
As a professional theatre company, Action Transport create brand new professional theatre that tours throughout the country – Our Youth Theatres and Young Writers have access to the rehearsal process, to the creative team, and are guaranteed a free ticket to the premiere of all our shows!

In March 2006 “The Miracle” played to jam packed audiences in the Whitby Hall Studio to great success! “The Miracle” then performed at Clwyd Theatr Cymru where the members got to meet other youth theatres and see their work too.
