The result of a unique experiment in collective play writing which began with the ‘Admit One’ event held at The Gateway in October 2003, in conjunction with The Chester Gateway, The Chester Literature Festival, Cheshire County Council and North West Playwrights.

The Leather Boy is fast, furious and moving; a big cast, big impact play.

Meet the boy…

Vincent needs help. He’s 18, shy, and turning into his Dad. It is time to panic:

Meet his family…

…the Daddy, the self made Leather Man with the dodgy ticker:

…the mum Cheryl Anne, classy and brassy and looking for comfort

…big brother Tanner, a Dark Horse, with tricks up his sleeve

And none of them will
let the boy go.

‘The Leather Boy’ has been written by around 20 young people and influenced by over 80.

It’s for anyone who has still got a bit of rebel left in them.
