"The incredibly gifted Vulavulani Company of Soweto and Action Transport Theatre of the UK explode onto the beautiful Unicorn stage with enough talent, energy and charisma to fill the Albert Hall."

“Gogo” is the story of the clash between modern and traditional worlds in South Africa.
Two Soweto children (10 & 11) are sent to live with their Grandmother (Gogo) in the country. Township culture comes face to face with African tradition in this modern day adventure including live music & dance, a journey into the jungle and a deadly snake bite. Made in Soweto and Ellesmere Port, ‘Gogo’ is a new play for 7-11 year-olds, parents and Gogos everywhere.
Building on the runaway success of ‘Tselane’s Song’, ‘Gogo’ celebrated the role and place of the grandmother in South African culture.
Created by our two companies, the show included creative artists from both countries. It fused the best of African and European theatre making traditions and celebrate the diversity of our two cultures.
