Dumisani’s Drum –
music and songs from the show CD

`Dumisani’s Drum’ was first created in 2002 and toured to over 6,000 people in the North West. It was one of the most successful productions Action Transport has created.
During the tour, the two Sowetan performers, Fikekhale R. Dlalisa and Precious Ponatshego Duwo, decided to form their own theatre company back home in South Africa. Action Transport advised on the development of the Vulavulani, their company, and our two companies are now working in partnership. The main purpose of our partnership is to create productions that are both a celebration of the diversity of our cultures and a testament to our common humanity.
`Dumisani’s Drum’ 2003 is the first production which our two companies have created together. Having completed a five week tour to schools and theatres in the UK, it went on to tour to schools in Soweto where the inspiration for the show came from through the children’s stories and songs. These children finally got to see the professional production which they helped to create.
“Dumisani’s Drum” is a celebration of creativity, friendship and the power of theatre. A must see for younger children and family audiences.
